Have you ever tasted heaven?
I'm agnostic so I can't say that I believe in a 'heaven' or 'hell,' BUT this place is HELL... on your taste buds IF you order the 'spicy'-level on any of the items. Stay with medium, come back in an hour if you didn't think medium was spicy enough.
Tucked in a corner of a super tiny plaza that also has a quite excellent little Filipino bakery, Chengdu Noodle House survives on AMAZING food and word of mouth of that AMAZING food. I love it when a place is small enough you can hear the staff barking orders to each other or slamming the knife down on your order; I think 3 total people work here and their roles are 'do everything.' So, do everything you can to come down here and support your mind, body, spirit, soul right.
Tan tan Noodles is what we both ordered because it looked so damn good we could not, would not share with each other. But we did share a medium spicy braised pig ears, which were numbingly excellent in mouth feel and taste and easy on the eyes. Next time, the frog will be eaten... alongside the tan tan noodles because they're my spirit-noodle now and they follow me wherever I eat.
...when it's been 5 hours and the taste of good food is still in your mouth, you know you need to come back when they're scheduled to open... which is... -

Still spicy and delicious beyond belief. If you like MIAN over in Rowland, this is the spot for you. See previous post for logistics, this place honestly deserves so much more business than it gets!!

You know... I'm always patient with service and I've let it slide with this establishment because I understand they cannot speak English and because I truly enjoy their spicy beef noodle soup but I think this will have to be the last time I come here. I was the only one sitting in this place for lunch and I tried looking around for a worker so I could place my order but no one was around. The workers were all laughing and talking in the kitchen. After a while the lady came back, looked at me raise my hand because I was ready, turned and sat in front of the cashier. I'd say 2-3 minutes goes by and an elderly Chinese couple walks in and is immediately greeted by the lady up front and in fact gets their order taken before me.
I eventually ordered and my dish came out at a good time. While I was eating I noticed the lady kept staring at me and I felt rushed and unwanted. Then when it was time for my check, I got up to pay at the front and I couldn't even read the total on my check. It said $13.0__ it looked like two 0's so I gave her $13 but she replied rudely and said something I couldn't understand. Once I realized it wasn't two 0's I gave her .25 because that's what I had. And even after giving that she was saying something else I couldn't understand. At the time I was holding $2 to give as tip but at this point she looked at me so annoyed and I truly didn't understand why. Turns out my total was $13.09 and with my change she immediately drops it into their tip jar and takes the $2 out of my hand to put inside. I have never had service like this before and if I could have, I would have decreased my tip to $1 and whatever my change was that she threw in there.
I was so nice throughout this meal and constantly gave smiles hoping to get one in return. No one smiled at me this whole time except for the cook who brought out my food to me. Truly disappointed but at least there's Dings Tea along Gale that has some good beef noodle soup too. -

This is where I come to get my spicy Sichuan cuisine. It was good before and it's even better now. However, the prices are higher now.
If you can't handle spicy, they got very few items on the menu that's not spicy. If you order mild, it's spicy. So beware!
This place is also supported mostly by regulars that work or live nearby due to it's location. Many people get takeout here.
I recommend the spicy and sour jelly noodle, the chicken gizzard noodle, the dan dan noodle and the stir fried pork with bell peppers. Make sure they don't put the wrong pepper in there.
Another popular dish is the frog pot, but I've never tried it.
